Kidney transplant recipient and Donor Games athlete Abigail Beckman-Green delivered an extraordinary performance at the 2025 World Transplant Games in Dresden, Germany, August 17–24, bringing home five gold medals, two silver medals, and setting four new world records.
“Competing at the World Transplant Games was a great experience,” Beckman-Green said. “This year, in addition to focusing on swimming, I made it a point to meet new people from around the world—from South Africa and New Zealand to the UK, Canada, and Team USA. Their stories put my transplant journey in perspective and reminded me of the resilience of the human spirit.”
Beckman-Green, sponsored by the National Kidney Registry (NKR), also made her debut at the Donor Games Championship on September 20, 2025, further showcasing her dedication to celebrating life and the lifesaving impact of living donation.
At the Donor Games Championship, Beckman-Green tied for fourth place with Roni Hays and Emmy Spencer Probasco. “It was incredible to meet so many selfless, brave, and strong donors thriving post-donation,” Beckman-Green said. “I had no expectations going into the Donor Games events, especially since I hadn’t done CrossFit since 2019, so ending up on the podium was a huge surprise!”
Since receiving a kidney transplant in August 2016—donated by her aunt Karen Green—Beckman-Green has consistently demonstrated extraordinary athleticism. She made her World Transplant Games debut in 2023, capturing five gold medals and one silver, and setting five world records in swimming. She has also won her division in the Donor Games 1-Mile Swim Open in both 2024 and 2025, and earned a second-place finish in her age group at the US Masters National Swim Meet.
In this year’s World Transplant Games, Beckman-Green won gold medals—in the 100m freestyle, 200m freestyle, 400m freestyle, 50m butterfly, and 50m freestyle—and silvers in the 4 x 50m freestyle relay and 4 x 50m medley relay.
“The World Transplant Games and Donor Games are more than competitions—they are celebrations of life, health, and the incredible generosity of living donors,” Beckman-Green said. “I’m proud to represent the NKR and raise awareness of how living donation changes lives.”
