University of Alabama at Birmingham Becomes a National Kidney Registry Member Center

The National Kidney Registry (NKR) announced that University of Alabama at Birmingham has become the first NKR Member Center in Alabama.

NKR Member Centers are a network of transplant centers that agree to an extensive list of guidelines and commitments to provide the highest level of care, protection, and support to living donors.

“We are pleased to welcome University of Alabama at Birmingham as the NKR’s newest Member Center, and the first in the state of Alabama,” said Eric Walano, NKR Vice President of Relationship Management.

“Adding UAB to our expanding network not only makes the NKR’s kidney matching technology available to patients in Alabama for the first time but also gives more individuals the opportunity for a better match and a longer-lasting transplant.”
